Durham-York Waste to Energy Center

Project Overview

• WSN Construction was a prime contractor on the Durham York Waste-to-Energy Plant in Clarington, Ontario.
• The new facility processes 14,000 tons of post-recycled waste per year.
• It produces 17.5MW of clean renewable energy using thermal mass burn technology.
• Contract included complete piping, equipment setting, and assembly.
• WSN Construction was responsible for over $100M in owner-supplied equipment that included:
  • Two – 400,000 pounds of steam per hour garbage burner field erected boilers
  • Two air pollution control systems
  • Baghouse
  • Water Treatment Plant for reclaimed process liquids
  • G.E. steam turbine
  • Air cooled condensers, municipal waste handling systems, and ash handling system.
