Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant ‘D’ Building Expansion

Project Overview

Ashbridges Bay is the largest Wastewater Treatment plant in Canada. WSN Construction responsibilities include:

• Upgrading significant improvements to the preliminary process area, odour control, ventilation and electrical systems
• Prime Contractor for Electrical & Mechanical
• Scope of work included:
  • Supply and installation of 22,000 feet of pipe
  • Five automatic self-cleaning bar screens
  • 54,000 feet of electrical cabling
  • 5kV power distribution system (4160V, Class 1, Div. 1).
  • Implementation of new inorganic biofilter grit removal system
  • New handling and loading systems for screenings and grit
  • Major equipment and instrumentation
  • Aerated grit tank modifications.
  • Odour control system included implementation of new inorganic biofilter with dedicated 40-meter stack
  • The project also rendered the preliminary process areas compliant with the current electrical and fire protection standards due to the installation of new ventilation and electrical systems.
